Julia Stephens is a performer and writer based in Los Angeles and New York City. Her work spans theatre, film, and nonfiction, with a focus on bold, character-driven storytelling. She is especially drawn to stories that blend emotional depth with sharp humor.
She is the creator and star of the original web series Really It’s Rita, which received interest from major television networks, and co-creator of the semi-improvised series Ctrl+Alt+Underground. Her nonfiction writing has appeared in The New York Times, and she was selected as one of a small group of writers for the CBS Diversity Showcase. She currently works in television.
Julia’s latest project, ROOMIES, is a solo play based on a true story that she wrote and performs. Blending drama and comedy, the piece follows an unlikely friendship between two women navigating extraordinary circumstances inside a Beverly Hills treatment center. ROOMIES explores the unexpected relationships that can change a life.
